I had been Byers before, but this time it felt different. Partly it was because of my now deeper understanding of the issues it faces, but mostly because many of the locals already seemed to know what I was here for. My anonymity lost, I was easily identified as a university student now and not just another traveler. I'm not comfortable with this. Being from a large city, I greatly value anonymity. I like to be inconspicuous any time I'm in public. If I'm going to be an outsider I'd like at the very least for it to not raise a brow.
