Vernacular color The pigment of adobe is of the earth where the structure sits. The hole that is dug to collect mud for adobe bricks can simultaneously be a sunken room. I am curious about the significance of the bright colors, which coat the wood trim and doors that is the regional aesthetic vernacular of the Santa Fe area. I wonder where the significance of the colors originated, if it was a sourced earthen pigment? Or if this is a relatively new aesthetic that grew from the availability of commercial pigments. Either way I find that color choice goes beyond the swipe of a brush in a moment, but is about a history or process practiced by a community.
