I noticed, upon showing food to the cows, that they moved with a sort of unity. they were fluid in their motion and almost mathematical in their response to a person. In the distance they kept, how they kept it, and the consistency of role each cow played in this unified mass, the cows’ relationship was like one of batteries to themselves, sometimes attracting or repelling depending on whether food was shown or aggression forward movement was taken by the people. There was also something deeply disturbing and alive about the mass, particularly alluded to by the large, assertive, and parasitic in their lack of focus on anything. The eyes seemed not to be of several individual creatures, but of one massive parasite that crawls around responding immediately, like an insect, to its environment.
