Makeshift Corrals from Gunnison to Buena Vista
This vast valley, which connects to the San Luis Valley to the south, cradles huge swaths of ranch land. By the road, at each ranch there are corrals made with metal gates found at any ranch supply. It is most probable ranchers use these corrals to load cattle on trailers and for various treatments when they come close to the facilities. Almost all of them appeared to be movable and interchangeable, and with in minutes could be a chute or other practical shape depending on the need of the moment. I spotted them at nearly every ranch we passed, this contraption undoubtedly works best for the ranchers need. It is fascinating how knowledge is spread and can so quickly be adapted, or in this case not, based on unwavering practices and regional practicality.
