What I thought was an important aspect about our event Friday was the approach of bringing our art practice to the town of Byers. Rather than parading an art event in the town we used a language the community is familiar with: the art of BBQ. The town came out to share a dinner and through that engagement saw and talked about the work we’ve been making. Similarly, we talked to them about their lives. It was a fluid exchange that wouldn’t have existed without that common ground.
