As we leave the rural areas for this week, I'm thinking about beauty (and ugliness). There are beautiful and ugly things in both rural and urban areas. Moreover, simple things are often seen as innocent, pure, and beautiful. Urban areas are more complex and harder to understand, which can make it harder to find beauty--but that doesn't mean it isn't there. Rural areas, in contrast, often appear simple, but have deep complexities of culture and creativity. It is hard to say whether one is inherently better than the other.
