Today I was thinking about boundaries and fences as well as the idea of the "other". The entry point of a property is often decorative, placing importance on the transition from the outside to the inside. Fences certainly serve a functional purpose such as keeping animals in (or out) and defining the ownership of property. However, they often also create and sustain divisions between people mentally, such as the border wall and gated communities. I'm interested in the area where these separations meet and sometimes exchange between the inside and outside, such as this entryway.
