I'm not an art major and did not come into this trip with any particular focus, hypothesis, or artistic specialty. The first day was all about keeping an open mind and being open to sights, sounds, and experiences that the rural environment and the people around and within it had to offer. Because the trip involved a change from the urban environment of Boulder to the rural environment of the San Luis Valley, I was naturally inclined to compare and contrast the ideas of rural and urban and the things that I believed represented them. I noticed these two stacks, one of metal pipes and one of wooden logs, that were visually similar but different in their creation, composition, and in how I perceived them as natural or unnatural and urban or rural.
