My initial thoughts when I think of 'rural' are dry and abandoned areas. I hope to change my outlook on rural areas by finding beauty that others would otherwise excuse as ugly. Sitting in a car for four hours driving through rural land gave me time to think and find parts of myself within the environment. Much like an old house in the middle of a field with a backdrop of the Rocky Mountains. Or a house that is a little uglier, a little smaller, and a little older than the two buildings it is stuck between. I too feel alienated sometimes. These structures are surrounded by so much, yet they stand out asking the universe to acknowledge their existence. I find pieces of myself relating to these images, and hope to learn how to seek the beauty in them.
