After spending the day with a local dog trainer in Byers, I was able to get a glimpse into life in this small town. This woman had grown up in Denver and moved to Byers 14 years go with her husband. As we walked along the roads, we stopped and talked to each passing neighbor getting caught up on their lives -or their days. It was imperative that I understood the calm and comradely nature of living in Byers; and the warmth was extended to me, a stranger in the area for such a brief time. While the project I was focusing on for the week regarded animal and human interactions, this was a gentle reminder of the simple wonder of conversation and shared time between people.
